Bandhan Bank announced on Thursday that it has received approval from the RBI to appoint Partha Pratim Sengupta as its Managing Director and CEO.
Sengupta will assume the role for a three-year term, starting no later than November 10, 2024, according to the bank’s regulatory filing to the BSE.
With nearly 40 years of experience in the banking sector, Sengupta has worked across various geographies, handling both retail and corporate banking.
His career began at State Bank of India (SBI), where he rose to the position of Deputy Managing Director and Chief Credit Officer. He later served as the MD & CEO of Indian Overseas Bank (IOB).
Throughout his career, Sengupta held diverse roles, including Branch Manager, Forex and Trade Finance Officer, Regional Manager, Deputy General Manager at SBI’s Internet Banking Department, and General Manager for Mid Corporate.
He holds a Physics Honours degree and is a Certified Associate of the Indian Institute of Bankers. Sengupta has also received leadership training from Harvard Business School, IIM Calcutta, and ISB Hyderabad.
